Clubs
What Are Clubs?
Clubs are groups of growers organized around a shared species, region, or interest. They give you a place to discuss what you are growing, share updates, and organize local events.
Ohtli automatically creates clubs based on what people are growing and where. When you register a tomato in Seattle, you might get invitations to join "Tomato Growers," "Growers in Washington," and "Tomato Growers of Washington." You can accept or decline each one.
You can also create your own club for any purpose — a neighborhood gardening group, a rare fruit collective, or anything else.
Joining a Club
There are two ways to join a club:
Invitations — When you register an entity, Ohtli checks for matching clubs and sends you invitations. These appear in the Pending Invitations section of your Clubs dashboard page. Click Accept to join or Decline to dismiss.
Request to join — Browse the public clubs directory at /clubs, find a club you are interested in, and click "Request to Join." A club admin will review and approve your request.
When you accept an invitation to a species club, your matching entities are automatically added to the club so other members can see them.
Posts & Discussion
Club members can create discussion posts visible to all other members. Use posts to share growing updates, ask questions, or start conversations.
Admins can pin one post to the top of the club page to highlight important information (meeting times, club guidelines, seasonal reminders).
Events
Any club member can propose an event — a plant swap, garden tour, seed exchange, or meetup. Proposed events need endorsements from at least two other members before they are confirmed.
If you are a club admin, your events are confirmed immediately.
Events have a title, description, location, and date. Confirmed events appear on the club page for all members to see.
Creating a Club
To create your own club, go to your dashboard Clubs page and click "Create Club." Give it a name, an optional description, and an optional location.
You can tag the club with one or more species to help people find it. You become the club admin automatically.
As admin, you can approve join requests, remove members, promote others to admin, pin posts, and edit club settings.
